Beckett Clarey
Beckett Clarey was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in Greensboro, NC. He started playing guitar in middle school at age 12, but he wasn’t introduced to the classical world until he was accepted into high school at the Weaver Academy for the Performing & Visual Arts. There he would study guitar under Patrick Lui, and develop a true passion for music. While at Weaver, Beckett went from being a student who could barely read a line of music to playing a demanding senior recital in 2018, consisting of the music of Fernando Sor, Antonio Lauro, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Also during this time he was a prize winner in the 2017 East Carolina University Summer Guitar Workshop guitar competition. Beckett looks forward to a career in music performance and education upon graduation from Appalachian State University.
