Tanner McAteer

Tanner McAteer began his musical career as a self-taught guitarist.

Tanner is a multi-talented musician with accomplishments in drums, piano, jazz and classical guitar. He has been involved in the guitar ensemble, played in the honors recital, taught for the community music school, and played guitar in a production of Handel’s Jephthah.

He is currently in his second year of study for the Master of Music in Guitar Performance under Dr. Douglas James at the Appalachian State University Hayes School of Music.

His aspirations as a guitarist include expanding his knowledge of the classical repertoire, refining his technical ability, and helping to preserve and spread this knowledge as an instructor, whether that means teaching at a university, middle school, or private studio.
